Motivating People and Companies in the Agriculture Industry
Who am I?
I have spent my entire career in the Agriculture and Horticulture industries. From sourcing legendary potatoes from Idaho, walking the corn fields of Wisconsin, and hiking through the coffee fincas of Guatemala – I use my trained-eye to find value for all the links in the supply chain. For me, it all starts with the farmer, if we can take care of them then the rest is all gravy.
Let’s get active
The first years of my life were spent in Southern California, but the Pacific Northwest is my playground now. Early morning mountain biking with friends on Galbraith Mountain lend their way to sunset swims at Lake Padden; this area is a jewel for anyone wanting to get outside. My favorite hobby is piloting an R44 over this beautiful, glacier-carved terrain and touching down on a gravel bank of a rushing river.
I married into a family of hunters and have had to quickly adapt. Those two weeks in October when all work stops and we set out to deer hunt have proven to be the best reset button during a busy work year. Luckily, my son’s enthusiasm can more than make up for any of mine that may be lacking! Looking forward to seeing a 5×5 in the cross-hairs this fall.
Blake’s Rule Book
2020 has proven to be exceptional as I recently spent time reflecting over the past decade of my life. There were high highs and low lows over these years but the things most valuable to me have remained unaltered. Those include my faith, my family, and my community.
There are three rules that I live by and I would love to share them with you:
1 – If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never get it.
2 – If you don’t ask, the answer will always be no.
3 – If you don’t step forward, you will always remain in the same place.
